Up The Vineyard Road...

As the timeless adage goes, 'Great wine is made in the vineyard'.

No one understands this better than the team behind Vineyard Road, which was created in 2016 by FABAL (Food And Beverage Australia Limited), a company who have over 30 years’ experience managing over 1700 hectares of vineyards across Australia.

Following decades of successfully growing grapes in some of Australia’s most premium winemaking regions, namely Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Padthaway, Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek (all South Australia), Margaret River (Western Australia) and Heathcote (Victoria), the team at FABAL decided to select small parcels of fruit from some of their favourite vineyards to bottle under their own brand, Vineyard Road.

Considering that nearly any road in these premium wine regions is heading towards one of their 20 estates, the name ‘Vineyard Road’ seemed apt.

Vineyard Road wines are majority estate-grown, meaning the team have taken ownership of growing and harvesting the fruit themselves. They are invested in the vineyards. The sites have been meticulously selected for the quality of wine they produce and the terroir they express. The team have intricate knowledge of the soil, elevation, aspect and microclimate of every vineyard. The vineyard managers, who work tirelessly to produce the best possible quality fruit while paying respect to the environment, are all a part of the Vineyard Road team and help shape the resulting wines.

Given FABAL’s extensive network in the wine industry, the winemaking is contracted to some of the most experienced winemakers from their respective region. Using their specific regional expertise, the wines reflect varietal typicity of their region for an authentic reflection of where they are produced. However, they are also crafted to express their site-specific sense of place, embodying the unique qualities of each vineyard. Although, as many winemakers will confess, most of the hard work is already finished by the time the fruit enters the winery. Regardless, the team are grateful to the expert winemakers who help add the finishing touches.
